SATURDAY 29 OCTOBER 2022
A CIRCULAR TOUR OF THE COTSWOLDS, FEATURING THE FIRST EVER VISIT TO THE SOUTH MARSTON (HONDA) BRANCH AT SWINDON, THE REFUGE SIDING AT MORETON-IN-MARSH, PLUS A VARIETY OF LOOPS AND SIDINGS
FEATURING CLASS 37 POWER THROUGHOUT
We are delighted to offer this railtour around and through the Cotswolds, featuring three very choice bits of track, together with a number of other loops and sidings that have rarely featured on a passenger train.
There is one specified section of track before the last joining point at Cheltenham Spa, from where we climb through the Golden Valley to Swindon and soon to the first ‘biggie’ of the day, the 2008 opened branch to the 2021 closed Honda factory, which has carried very little traffic at all, and certainly no passenger trains.
An hour or so break will be taken at Banbury before we head west to Moreton-in-Marsh for a visit to the Refuge Siding, followed by continuation to Worcester, where we are booked to use the Henwick Turnback to do exactly that!
Class 37 haulage throughout (Courtesy of WCRC) in top/tail formation, however the locomotives will pair up from the Gloucester area back to Burton-on-Trent.
We have now added a stop at Swindon for those wishing to join us there.
