Pathfinder Railtours Statement, issued on 25th November 2024.
We are deeply committed to our duty of care to our customers and strive to deliver high-quality experiences on all our excursions, no matter the destination or time of year. However, due to unforeseen technical and operational challenges beyond our control, including increased pressure on third-party resources, it has become clear that maintaining these standards in the short term is not feasible.
It is with regret that I can confirm that Pathfinder Railtours has taken the very difficult decision to cancel its forthcoming programme of Christmas excursions.  We extend our sincerest apologies to all passengers booked on these trains, whose plans have been disrupted. It is not a decision that has been taken lightly, neither is one that we wished to make.
As a company, we are confident that the current issues will be resolved in the New Year, and we are well advanced on planning the remainder of our excursion programme across 2025, which we expect to announce early next year.  We look forward to a successful forthcoming year and to welcoming passengers back onto our trains.
FOR BACKGROUND:
The decision to cancel the Christmas programme affects the following trains:
30th November – “The Chester Christmas Whistler”
7th December – “Mancunian Christmas Marketeer”
21st December – “The Thames Valley Christmas Cracker”
For the avoidance of doubt, all advertised tours in 2025 are not affected by this decision, and we intend them to run as planned.
